Wondering how much you can make with your blogging? With average writing skills and the right amount of patience, you can make over $40/hour. Here’s how.
The math behind making over $40 an hour with blogging
Let’s assume you write a reasonably decent web page with 1000 words in 3 hours.
If you can make $1.50 in Google Ad Sense revenue each month on that page, and you expect your content to be good and rank (wherever it ends up) for about 7 years, you are looking at a total of $126.
$126 divided by 3 hours is $42 per hour.
Not bad at all, right?
It most cases, all it takes is about 300 page views to make $1.50 per month – so it’s not like you will need any special SEO rocket science to reach this goal if you blog consistently.
These are just averages, of course. Some topics make more money than others, some topics are more competitive than others, and some sites get better advertisement click through rates than others.
So where is your traffic and your $42 an hour, you wonder?
What it takes to make over $40 an hour with blogging
You are not going to see 300 page views per month on your posts until you have from 50,000 to 100,000 words of (reasonably decent) content on your site and not until those words have been up and online for 6 months or so.
Most writers give up long before this and all of their efforts go to waste.
I’m here to tell you that you can do it if you stick with it and if you are willing to be incredibly patient.
Did I mention it takes patience and consistency? Let me say it again for emphasis.
Six months of checking your traffic every day and seeing virtually no results for your hard work is a VERY LONG TIME!
100,000 words of good content creation is also a lot of HARD work.
Knowing, however, that you can realize this high of an hourly rate on your writing efforts might help you to be more patient and more in it for the long haul.
How do I know it will work? Well you are here on this page reading it, right? I certainly am only an average writer with average ideas and I have NEVER used any SEO methods at all! I write articles and that’s about it.
If you are all the way down here that means you read the whole page, too. Thanks for your patience, I appreciate it.
Best of luck and stick with it – you can do this!
